Women, Gender Liberation, and Intersectional Struggles approaches feminism not simply as a body of theory but as a political practice concerned with transforming the social relations through which inequality and domination are reproduced. The seminar introduces students to feminist, queer, intersectional, and decolonial approaches to gender while examining their relationship to questions of state power, nationalism, colonialism, and social struggle.

Particular attention will be given to feminist movements emerging from Kurdistan and Iran. Through engagement with the Kurdish Women’s Movement and the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising, the seminar asks how struggles around gender can develop into broader projects of political and social transformation. Students will consider questions of autonomous organization, feminist knowledge production, resistance, collective care, and the creation of alternative forms of social and political life.

The seminar combines theoretical readings with discussion of contemporary movements and lived political experiences, creating a space for critical and comparative reflection across different geographical and intellectual contexts.
